Talking about a bachata revival.
Urban bachata singer Toby Love, one of the genre’s up-and-coming talents, joined today the list of Latin artists slated to kick off concert tours this spring throughout many U.S. cities.
“Toby Love 2009 East Coast Tour” will make 12 stops, starting on Jan. 31 in New Jersey and wrapping up on Mar. 1 in Miami.
“As long as I am in direct contact with the audience, I continue to grow,” he told his management and publicity team.
“There is no greater satisfaction for an artist than to sing in front of an audience and feel the applause, the joy… see them dance,” he added.
A Bronx native, Love was a member of the urban bachata band Aventura before launching a solo career with an eponymous release in 2006. He's known for his infectious fusion of hip-hop, reggaeton and bachata, as exemplified on his past works, and especially his third studio album, “Love Is Back.”
Lately, Love is not the only bachata artist who has been stirring up the Latin music scene. For quite some time now, Aventura has been burning Latin music charts everywhere with its magical blend of romantic bachata and urban rhythms like hip hop and reggaetón. And now 4ever, a Puerto Rican-based group, is poised to conquer the urban bachata arena as well.
It’s like a Juan Luis Guerra meets Tego Calderón thing. If you asked me, it lacks everything but staying power in today's urban-dominated music world.
